About

My name is Adam Drake and I currently reside just outside Prague in the Czech Republic. I am married to my beautiful wife Simona and we currently have two boys with a third on the way! I was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure in December 2003 when I was 20 years old. It was a life changing moment and one that took me a long time to come to grips with. I went on dialysis for around four months and was then very fortunate to receive a Kidney Transplant from my Father. It worked wonderfully for 10 years and then due to stresses in life and also due to the natural cycle of a transplant it started to fail. At the time of writing this (25th January 2017) the Kidney is still working to some degree but dialysis looks imminent. I have wanted to write a blog about having a transplant for a while now so I am finally doing something about it. I am not sure what form it will take but I want to write about the affects it has on one’s life – both physical and mental and how I am dealing with it. I am hoping deep down that this blog may help a few people who happen to fall into a similar situation. Feel free to reach out with comments or questions. We are all here to help each other! :o) Adam
